The Meaning of Driving away Devils by Celestial Meteors in Quranic expression - 1

15:03 - 2024/04/09

In verses 16-18 of Surah Hajar, the Qur'an talks about the "protected towers" in the sky, which God protects them from the influence of "demons" with the "meteor". Is this statement consistent with new science and our understanding of meteorites?!

Short answer:

This verse is similar to the verses that use allegory and irony to compare "sensible" to "perceptible". The meaning of the sky in those worlds is the Heavens. The meaning of the devils approaching the sky and "eavesdropping" and "rejecting them" by the "meteors" is that whenever these devils want to approach the world of angels, by the means of light, they are  rejected. Of course, since it can be seen with the Qur'anic and hadith evidences, the sky means the spiritual sky and the stars can be seen as the bright characters of the human society. According to these meanings, the meaning of the verse is that the devils are always trying to enter the sky of truth, the hearts of true believers and the defenders of the truth with all kinds of temptations. But divine men and leaders of the right path, from prophets and Imams to undertaking Scholars, with their powerful waves of knowledge and piety prevent them from approaching this sky.

Detailed answer:

In verses 6 to 10 of Surah al-Safat and in statements that are apparently related to the creation of the heavens and the stars, we read:

Indeed We have adorned the lowest heaven with the finery of the stars. and to guard from any froward devil. They do not eavesdrop on the Supernal Elite, they are shot at from every side. to drive them away, and there is a perpetual punishment for them. except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame.[1], [2]
